...RB Innovations has a rear steering module for the GP Savage that Tower also lists as fitting the EP Savage...Interesting...

http://e-savage.com/gallery/data/500/medium/rearsteer6.jpg

FEATURES: The Savage rear steering module is designed to bolt directly on the stock truck without modification. The kit will give you rear just like real monster trucks have. Rear steering will decrease the turning radius of your Savage while improving its manuverability in the backyard or on the track. It will stiffen the rear of your truck while providing unsurpassed performance.
Purple anodized bellcranks and steering rack.

INCLUDES: 1 Upper rear steering bracket, 1 Lower rear steering bracket, 1 Bellcrank assembly, 1 Set of mounting hardware, 1 Servo linkage, 1 Dual servo wiring adapter, Decals & Instructions.

REQUIRES: A servo and servo saver.

Tower lists this for 123.99 USD and RBI lists it for 99.99 USD...Go figure...RBI also charges 10 USd EXTRA to get it in purple...

Very cool.

That's a neat looking exhaust, too... But I'm surprised they don't have issues with unburnt fuel pooling in the header.

As if I haven't got enough issues with keeping the 4 wheels on the ground ... looks like a nice mod to teach the E-S to roll over :p

BTW, where would one put the additional servo?

...no contact from RBI at all...

...I personally think that if they have made that steering lingage the same as the GP Sav then it will WAY too wide for the EP...

...GREAT!! Cant wait to hear about it...The only thing i would be concerned about is the fact that the steering 'rod', the one that takes the arms that go to the knuckles, is GP sized...Just take that into account when you make your links and you should be good to go :D

...EDIT: in fact looking at it you might find the holes in the mounting bracket are a little wider for the GP chasis width so you will need to open some new ones...pretty easy...Cant wait to see it all fitted :D

Well, I have one on the way... it should be here on Thursday or Friday. :) Now, if I get my e-Savage back and running around the same time I will hopefully have this going this weekend... but we will see... if I do i'll drop off some photos of it. :D

Hey Guys,

OK, well good things and unexpected things... alright, so apparently my new eSavage is and it looks like the third time is a charm... this one runs!!! Well, the shop was supposed to order up my new tire set (the Jumbo Kongs) and the steering kit... but they did not... so, it will be in next week... yeah, yeah, I could order it online but heck, they give me the same (if not a little savings) so why not support my local hobby shop... it's all good but it will be a bit before I can back to you on the steering kit.

Thanks,
DirectGumby

ok, i have gotten mine RB rear steering already, a quick setup proves that this does not work with E-savage as it is only created for GP savage.

The screw holes on the mounting points are not correct. The only way to fix this problem is to drillyour holes onto the mounting plates and you should be ready to go.

Let me find time to do this modifications and get back to all again.

DirectGumby - Have you gotten yours and any better luck then me?

Hi Gumby,

You managed to get the rear steering installed? I just conclude that drilling holes on the rear steering brackets is not a good idea. I am now working on attachment brackets to mount the rear steering brackets onto the E-zill's chasis.

Will keep all of you posted, as i am also busying building planes as the flying season is back heehee.

Cheers
Cool

Hey man,

Well, i'm just looking at getting it setup now...
How goes your work?

Note: I'll keep the "don't drill it out" in mind and see what other options I may have... nothing like a little fab work today hu? :)

Thanks for the info.

Hey all,

I think I have devised a way to build three simple blocks that you could then bolt to the chasis that would then bolt to the main body... it should be rather easy to put together... I think i'm going to try to make something here this afternoon... should work like a champ... but i'll let you know when I get it done.

Hey all,

I wanted to let you now that I have the kit installed... I did take some photos... and i'll get you all of the detials soon...

In short though you need to drill 4 new holes, grind of one small section of one of the plates (so you can make sure and leave a little clearance for the upper A-Arms, and buy two longer screws... i'll give full details and photos in the next day or two...

I should be having my first test run here whitin the hour...

Hey all,

Just wanted to let you know that i'm sorry I didn't get it posted last night... i'll try to get it all put together with a step-by-step by mid/end of the week... I want to make sure I have the part list correct, let you know of a few mistakes I made, and what i'd do slightly diffrent in the future... but overall... it seems very workable and should be funt to take it out for a run soon. :)

Have a good day all,

Hey all,

OK - so here is proof that it can be done:
http://e-savage.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=247&stc=1&d=1175980084...

Now, I will try to get the rest of the post up today on what, how, and the rest of the pros/cons of this little setup...

More to come later today...

Just wanted to show folks that it can happen, and boy does it rule for turning now... good thing i've got the "slower" 65T motors in it for now... otherwise I'd rarely stay upright... but I do love it....

Pros/Cons/How-tos coming later on today.

...look good Gumby...Makes me start thinking about eliminating the servo box altogether and mounting the FRONT servo in a similar fashion...Thats been on my mind for ages...Glad you got it done though...You got the screw issue solved?

...I will go ahead and drop the boys at RBI a note so that they can see your thread...Always good to let the vendors that their stuff works ;)

...Keep us posted...I am looking forward to the build info...

DirectGumby

I would not say that it "workd" --- I had to drill 4 holes and grind some parts of it off to make it fit... so it does not work right out of the box... Thus, I would not recomend they sell it as a direct mod for the e-savage.... in fact last I looked tower hobbies had it listed as a possible solution for the e-svage and that would not be accurate in my assesment...

Thanks,

with a solid skid/wheelie bar that may work, if its not too heavy, do you have additional pics ?

DG> how did you connect the rear servo to the receiver ? 65t motor ? is that the servo motor, and is there another way to slow the rear servo(ie. not the front servo; thinking of connections of servo's..)
