Dear RC Manufacturers,
We were there when you introduced the Frog and the Grasshopper. We were there when a 1500 mAh nicd was a large capacity battery. We were there when you were lucky to get 5 minutes runtime on your RC stuff.
Who are we? We are those Tamiya style white connectors and the frustrated RCers who have been stuck with them since you decided they would be the “standard.”
As an RCer I hate to badmouth something that has been around as long as those white connectors but it’s time for them to retire. They were never all that good at their job any way.
In this era of 3300mAh batteries being on the small end and 15+ minutes being the norm for runtimes we need you manufacturers to give us something better. Surely you can put WS Deans Ultra connectors on your products. The least you could do would be to offer your products without the white plug and include one of those red ones so we could install them ourselves. I just spent numerous hours cutting off those white plugs and installing the red plugs on all my new stuff. Is this really fair to us, your buyers?
So if any of you RC manufacturers actually read in these forums, (and it would really pay you to) give us a break. Stop using something that everyone that stays in the hobby for over a week knows has to be replaced before it goes bad. And go bad it will. Read the things that are written to improve your products. The absolute first modification for every hobby grade electric product is to replace the Tamiya style connectors with WS Deans or the equivalent.
We will appreciate it!
Sincerely, your buying public.

This will probably do no good but i've been through this before when I was much younger. Now that I'm an old codger my fingers are tired, clumsy and they hurt. My eyesight isn't as good either and i just got through replacing plugs on 10 new battery packs and 3 trucks. With burnt aching, fingers I felt like I needed to rant.
I know I'm preaching to the choir but if enough of us complain about this, just maybe someone will listen. What really bothers me is that this would be such an easy fix at the manufacturing end.
Anytime you order batteries and such tell the dealers you would like to see the plugs replaced at the manufacturing end with something better. Same thing when you talk to any manufacturing representative. You never know. It may do some good.

You could go to www.cheapbatterypacks.com; they will whip up a set of shotgun-style packs with Deans plugs pre-installed. :)
