check this (http://www.oople.com/rc/photos/reviewtrakpowerlipo/) out !!

They are for sale at a local dealer for 128 Euro's ... but I'm wondering what I will need to buy/change on top of the 2 packs:
- loader
- balancer
- motor coolers
- alu drive shafts?
- alu gears?

They are the same size as our 'normal' packs, 200gr less weight and from an initial test they noticed that they do not heat up ... the motor on the other hand kinda melts its way through the chassis

Kosta, can you shed some greek technical light on this? :D

cheers

greek technical light? LMAO! LOL!
yeah, i will post a couple of links if they are of any help to my nederlands friend...

trakpower lipos are top notch...i know some racers here and in italy use them in touring cars a lot...

many balancers are available, most of them as cheap as 10$-20$...
i would use the trakpowers` balancer...
another example:

for a charger, i would spent the extra couple of $ and get a bantamtek 501dx instead of the 301dx...
501dx under two vendors [identical units though]:

http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=52_53&products_id=16593

maybe give a check to the 801, for it does everything the 501 does plus balancing the lipos and it is more adjustable:
[two vendors again]

http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/product_info3.php?cPath=52_53&products_id=16594

ps: bantamtek is known to make some of the best chargers around...

as for cooling, the usual...traxxas motor heatsinks, a 92/120mm fan...

and the most important: if you are running the stock esc, [or brushed esc anyway], get a lipo-cut off...just like balancers, there are many ones out there...the stock esc [just like all high-voltage brushed escs] draws more current from one pack than the other [to power the bec and servo] and thus discharges it faster...this kills conventional batteries, and will kill lipos as well...so get a smart cut off to protect them...those cutoff devices cost about 20$...

WOW ... need sunglasses for this one :-)

thanks man! Now I got stuff to check out. My birthday is mid April so I know what to ask for

Is there a charger solution available that would allow me to charge multiple packs at the same time with different types of batteries?
I'm thinking of reducing the amount of chargers I would need so I could just charge multiple LiPo and NiMH packs at the same time. I guess I'll have to ask a friend to build me one (if that would be possible).

Well, electical stuff not being my main talent, you gave me plenty of stuff to read about and consider.

thanks again !!!!!

multiple battery types at once? none that i know of...
if i were you, i would sell the rest of my chargers and get a hobbico dual peak [two nimhs at once @5amps] for my nicd/nimhs and a 501/701 for all the rest stuff [lipos w/balancing, nicd/nimh maintenance, etc].
you can wire the two lipos in series and charge them at the same time with the 701 as long as you use the 4port balancing output [to allow the charger to monitor all 4cells]...

and yes you could built such a charger but it won`t be cheap...plus it will take some serious amount of time for the cpu programming...

one question:
WOW ... need sunglasses for this one :-)
didn`t get the sunglasses comment...?
