I dyed my stablemaxx wheels last night (Ill add pics to my gallery when they are mounted) and was going to boil my stock set up to seperate the wheels and tires today. But then I read in the May issue of RC driver that baking them is another option. Has anyone gone this route instead? I have boiled wheel/tire set ups in the past and honestly I find it to be a pain in the butt. Just wanted some opinions or advice if anyone has tried this
As per RC Driver it says to bake on 275 for approx 20 min.

stablemaxx rims do NOT fit the stock tires well...the bead is narrower than it should be...you could do it, but you will have to re-glue the tires very often...
the proline dishes are a far better match for the stock tires...
and i am not saying that the rpm ones are inferior to the proline ones...i am just saying that the proline ones have a larger bead and fit the stock tires better...
as for the oven question, i have done it, but didn`t quite like the results...
it seems that the tires get a bit more brittle with the oven method...
the boiling one works better FOR ME...[just my opinion is what i meant to say]

Thanks for the response, since I already have the wheels is there another tire choice that anyone knows of that will fit the stablemaxx better than the stocks?

Moose how is the wear on the bow ties? I am running probably 50/50 pavement and grass. I was also looking at the aggressors, but I am concerned they will have the same problem as the stocks that kosta was talking about since they are both HPI products.

Anyone have any input on the wearing of bow ties? I don't want them to just become slicks from driving on pavement

I've been running BowTie MTRs for a few weeks now and i mostly run in grass but make my turns on the asphalt driveway so they are under more stress in the turn and so far have seen no wear at all. I do get into the street for a few laps occasionally also. I'm not really rough on stuff but i'm pretty satisfied with the BT MTRs wear so far.

bowties don't weart that much on tarmac but they will at some point....
you could try prolines crimefighters they are quite good and will do you for what you want to do and will wear less on tarmac than the bowties do
