yess mann, lots of ideas.

do's
1) post as much descriptive info you can
2)post no-blurry pics of situation
3)get a mg995 15kg replacement servo, all metal geared, good to go, 25t output. they are dirt cheap! comes with cushions, bushings, servo horn etc.
4) lube the servo saver with oil or teflon frequently
5) get a new servo saver spring (after months of HARDCORE bashings it gets weak)
6) do a bithed steering mod/kit (another member is willing to do that these days!), or get traxxas rod end balls' parts, a few bearings the right size and be done.
7) if servo saver spring has astonoshing nicks, surprising dents or other amazing insimilarities, add shims by each end.
8) examine the assembly - why not take the chance to switch out bushing for 6x10x3mm bearings
9) in last/first case scenario search forum for 'steering shims' its good 4 U.
10) CRY!!

don'ts

1) do not use a metal steering - if you do, match it with a stock steering, mating the parts with alu-plastic. That wil give you at least one great steering mech, if not two (i haven't tried this yet, but having the parts, i might get the 'chance') - i do know a metal steering is a joke.

last of all, remember to state that you're talking about a FLUX truck - whatever few details you'd find appropiate - this is an e-savage forum! Otherwise you may get answers that don't really apply, cos we don't always watch the 'category/section' mostly assume there's talk about an esavvy. It is beyond why savageflux.com redirects here..might even explain some spam..

However the steering works the same way..the flux steering being a bigger bro off the esav steering. To get slightly stronger steering mech brace, fab up a 2-3mm thick alu plate to replace the stock one, and adjust the steering turnbuckles according, well thats my best advice - maybe some of it works out, otherwise otherwise post along, most people here love to help out.

Sounds like maybe the servo's motor developed a dead spot in it. As aero said, just pick up some of these cheapo servos, their a decent replacement.

The MG996R is the replacement for the 995, it's a lot better. Link

I'm running two of these in my XTM MMT for steering, they are slow but lots of torque, metal geared and only $8.

Ofcourse these servos aren't the best but for the price you can't expect the longest life out of them. I'll run cheap servos on my steering, but won't chance one in an airplane or for throttle duties on a vehicle.

Jeff did you try a 996R servo? How are they compared to the hextronic 10kg servos? Some reviews state they are fast and better than the listed specs.

Some alternatives:

Yup I'm running a 996R in my CEN GST for steering, better than the stock servo. The 996 is a tad faster than the hextronik servo from what I can see.
